Getting Started

Once upon a time, there was a young woman who had a dream. A completely reasonable and normal dream to have. She dreamed of starting a bloodline with each descendant named after an element of the periodic table.

Ellie: That seems more like your dream.

Okay, but you're the one who's going to do it.

Ellie: This doesn't seem like a great place to raise a family.

I did kind of mess up with picking the most expensive lot, so this is only the second most expensive, but it's also right next to the museum so it seemed fitting.

Ellie: It's very... skinny.

I'm sure it'll be fine. And we're right across the street from the hospital for when you start having kids.

Ellie: They don't have a maternity ward yet.

... oh.

Our lovely legacy founder is Ellie Mendeleev, the founder of the original family when I tried this wayyyy back in the Sims 3. Ellie has 3 points in mind, 2 in creativity, and one each in charisma and physique. She has a serious vibe, is good at cooperating, and has a talent for technology.

I ran their legacy all through high school and then kind of... did not have time in college. Plus my college laptop did not want to run that shit and it was cumbersome to bring the older one out just to run my sims game. So.

I'm not super confident with my house-designing skills, but this will do for now. There's plenty of room to expand the family, and we had enough money to get the place furnished with the basics. And pretty much nothing else.

Speaking of the museum, I figured we could check it out. And uh... we're starting off strong with a floating book. Nothing like a familiar glitch to make you feel good about the save file right off the bat.

And a floating game system? I thought the build mode said these weren't functional yet.

Ellie: Well, it's obviously not functioning, now is it?

Touché.

We met up with Rahul Patel for our first acquaintance, since we need to make three for the 'Discovering the Town' set of goals. Sorry about your missing kid, dude.

Rebecca Wolf walked in next, the Buttercup of the Parapuff Girls. So she's our second acquaintance checked off. We also picked up a souvenir mug because the game wants us to buy something from a shop.

Rebecca was a pal and decided to come along with us while we looked for mushrooms and buried treasure. I want to try to complete the museum and community center quests during the legacy.

I also want to do the various townie questlines that come up if we've got time but uh... I don't think we're going to be taking this one so soon in the legacy. We can't afford to replace any furniture.

Ellie: We can't afford to replace me, either.

Aw. You're irreplaceable.

Ellie: I know you have a copy of me saved.

We finish off making friends with this para who I believe is named Ginger Jade based on Ellie's relationship panel. I think she's a random townie? Or at least not one of the ones living in an actual house.

The bedroom is a bit sparse at the moment.

Regarding the story cards: I have some mods that introduce some more negative cards, and I will be rolling a d4 so we won't always be getting whatever is the most beneficial option. Since there are usually two or three options, I'll get to pick if we roll a four.

On our first night, Ellie got a new goal for starting a family, which is fine with me because that's kind of what the whole challenge centers on.

We got some money from doing lots of museum donations and I believe selling some duplicate mushrooms, so I set up a simple study for Ellie. She got an entry-level position in the programming career, so it's important she has a chance to practice.

More mushroom hunting. Rebecca decided to show up again.

While scanning for goodies to pick up, I noticed there were three skeletons at the base of this cliff now? Looking less like an accident and more like there's some sinister sacrificial ritual going on in this town. The old gods of the mountain hunger for blood.

We found a treasure chest with a cool deer sculpture thing that... I did not take a picture of. I don't think I realized that's where the thing had come from until after already putting it down. It's on Ellie's desk though so you will likely see it in the future.

We met with Julian Gervais at the museum while donating our goodies. Just from his vibes I feel like he would be a good fit for the legacy. Ellie wanted to flirt so I think she agrees.

It doesn't look like it, but this is them flirting.

Ellie: We're leaving room for ParaJesus.

You're like ten feet away from him.

Ellie: He's very big.

I love that this is an option for her. This is what our legacy is all about.

We rolled angry Ellie card overnight.

Hmmm. I think this is one of the ones you should eat.

Ellie: The AI-generated mushroom guides agree with you. 🙃

Buuut we do find the other mushrooms we need to donate for this bundle, at least.

The next day I discover the 'find para' button in the relationship tab, meaning we can now stalk Julian! Hooray!

We can also make him run around with us to find more mushrooms.

On Sunday we head to the Sunday and grab an anime picture.

I did not want to buy the clown chair.

More stalking tells us that Julian was in the clothes store, which is where Ellie managed to land her first kiss.

She really does like him.

We invited him over the next night after work to try and get him to move in or something, but no dice. He was not seduced by our empty lawn. And Ellie kind of failed the interaction to try to get him to go steady.

Ellie: Curse the wheels of chance.

We managed to get him to move in the next day, though.

You may also notice the programming skill there. Ellie got a perk where she thinks about work skills or something even when she's doing other stuff, so she will just randomly improve her programming skill while running around town, talking to other people or (spoilers) while banging Julian.

I think this was me missing their proposal picture.

Ellie: You know there's a photo mode, right?

WOW Ellie. You want me to just get on the internet and lie like that???

First time in the sad minimalist bedroom.

Ellie: Hold on, I just got an idea for an app.

And I think this was me missing their kiss from eloping because I don't think weddings are a thing in the game yet.

Now that Ellie's been working a few days and we've made some more money, I gave them a living room in which they can spend their leisure time.

I love how easy it is to put your own pictures into the game. We're starting a wall of scientists.

And the other side of the room.

After a couple times trying, Ellie is officially pregnant. And just broke the toilet.

Ellie: I'm poopin' for two now.

On her day off, she spends the day running around looking for more stuff to give to the museum. All in her pj's, apparently. Barefoot.

Ellie: Don't judge me.

I figured we could get started working on one of the 'art' bundles for the community center, as well. Although Ellie has a ways to go in her painting skill, we can still sell the uh... 'less good' paintings.

Having experienced babies and toddlers in this game, I set up our tactical upstairs bathroom for bathing so we don't have to deal with moving the little ones up and down the stairs.

As well as the start of the nursery.

Ellie went into labor pretty much IMMEDIATELY after that, although I swear she was barely showing until now.

Ellie: It's just because you've had my pregnant belly glued to this easel. : /

Well, either way, welcome baby Hydrogen. We will uh... work on getting some light and decorations in your nursery.

He takes after his dad, it seems.
